The region of black architecture is one of the few enclaves near Madrid (only an hour and a half from the capital) still uncorrupted by the hand of man.
The beauty of these villages lies in the naturalness of their buildings, built with the materials they had at hand (slate, wood and adobe).
As well, this region is located on the rural Romanesque route north of Guadalajara.
Although the main tourist attraction in this area is the Tejera Negra beech (the southernmost in Europe), the region is dotted with lush valleys, oak forests and ravines carved into the rock by rivers and streams.
You will not find great museums or a great hotel offer, but you will find the beauty in every corner of these villages or in the Ocejón peak that with its 2048 meters of height watches these villages located in their skirts and marks the slow pace of life of its inhabitants.
